Writing Skills

I hope you have enjoyed the previous episode on usage of technology for for teaching how to write properly. The 5 points, discussed in the previous session were an introduction, which we will be extending to some new points in the current blog. The points discussed

in the previous blog are:
1. Automated Programs
2. Grammar Tutorials
3. Tracking to report student progress
4. Combined multimedia with writing
5. Use of digital e-books

6. Online Workshops:
Workshops could be very effective especially if you join it online with your students. This will not only give students a chance to know about latest ways of developing writing skills but will also learn a lot from the experienced people in the workshop. Not every writer or blogger born in that way. Their stories can be inspirational for many students.

8. Technology for collaboration:
Ask your students to find any common ground where everyone can work together. For example, use Skype or Google Drive to cooperate and create an online group study environment. This is how weak students will get to learn from the students who good are in do my coursework online. This practice will also reduce the workload of the teachers because they can then address every student’s issue on one portal.

10. Use Language Translators:
Instead of asking your students to find the meaning of every word in the dictionary, let them use Google translator or any of this kind tool to find the perfect words for their essays and dissertations. This will not only save their time but also will increase their knowledge of vocabulary.

11. Publish their work:
Many small publications are running in the USA or in the UK who always remain in hunt of finding quality content to feature in their books or magazine. A teacher can use these channels to publish the work of his best student. If not, the teacher can publish it online too on any blogging website. This can motivate students to do better so their work can get also featured in such places.

13. Video Games:
Every student likes to play video games, especially in the classrooms. There are many video games either on Android or on the PC which can help in developing writing skills. The teachers can use these games which not only reduced their burden but students will themselves take an interest in this activity and will learn a lot eventually from such video games.

15. Digital words:
Digital words from the big organizations like National Geographic or BBC use on their websites or TV shows can be a good source to teach your students the right use of the words. It will help them to understand the different worth and sense that a single word can create.

17. Autocorrect:
Every student is going to use MS Office in the end so there is no point in stopping them using autocorrect feature. This will help them to maintain their focus on the sentence structure instead of different things.

7. Use Blogs:
Things that students doesn’t like to read the books, they read it on the internet. That is why it is a better idea to use the blogs on writing as the part of your course and ask your students to read at least one blog on the writing skills. These blogs are often written by the expert writers and can create interest of many students in writing.

9. Record the lecture:
Instead of repeating every lecture, again and again, ask your students to record it. Your recording can help them to find the answers to their questions without bothering you. I remember the days when our teachers do not allow us to record their lectures and emphasize on noting it down. That in result makes their life miserable when every student surrounds him in the staff room with their questions.

12. Let them use websites like Thesaurus:
Thesaurus is one of the best websites to find synonyms and antonyms for every word. Encourage your students to use such websites to increase their vocabulary. Let them explore the synonyms and antonyms of different words. Even assigned them a home task to find synonyms of ten words every day on the Thesaurus.

14. Movies Subtitle:
If you want your students to write for the readers, movie subtitles are the best for it. The movies will teach them the different senses and feel of the words and will educate them that how the reader can take the meaning of the same word in different ways.

16. Use Tablets:
Use tablets in the classroom which should be full of writing apps. This will help the students to use these apps on the spot and make their writing better than ever without getting any reviews from the teachers.

Though good writing is a matter of practice, you should be methodical in practicing so. Using technologies available with us may even expedite our works and inculcate good writing habits.
