1. UPSC Civil Services Exam 2019

The Union Public Service Commission conducts Civil Service Examination in order to provide jobs as Civil servants.

Civil servants are bureaucrats who significantly influence the decision making of the government. The power and status associated with this field are immense.

In the list of government job exams in India, this stands at the top.

Job Profile: They head secretariats as well as district administrations throughout the country.

Areas of work: Wide variety of duties and responsibilities ranging from maintenance of law and order, the collection of taxes, to developmental work within State and Central areas of jurisdiction, implementation of social welfare activities, etc.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Nationality:

  • Only a citizen of India, Nepal, Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962.
  • People of Indian Origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam to settle in India.

2. Educational Qualification: Candidate applying for civil service exams is required to fulfill the following criteria:

  • He/she must hold a Bachelor’s Degree from any of the recognized universities
  • Candidates who have appeared for the qualifying examination and are awaiting results or those who are yet to appear for the qualifying examination are also eligible for the Preliminary Examination.
  • Candidates with professional and technical qualifications recognized by the Government or its equivalent are also eligible to apply.

3. Age Limit: The age of a candidate should be minimum 21 years and maximum of 32 years (upper limit relaxation for certain categories)

4. Number of attempts: The Authority has put restrictions on the maximum number of attempts by a candidate which is generally 6 (some categories have relaxations).

2. UPSC Indian Forest Services Exam 2019

The Indian Forest Service (IFS) is one of the Civil Services Examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission for the recruitment officers at the All India level by the Government of India for the scientific management of its forests.

**The Preliminary Exam is UPSC Civil Service Exam (Prelims) but the Mains Exam is conducted separately as UPSC Indian Forest Services (Mains).

Job Profile: All top positions in the state forest department are held by Indian Forest Service officers.

Areas of work: The main mandate of Indian Forest service is the implementation of the National Forest Policy which aims to ensure environmental stability and maintenance of ecological balance.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Nationality:

  • Only a citizen of India, Nepal, Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962.
  • People of Indian Origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam to settle in India.

2. Educational Qualification: Candidate applying for civil service exams is required to fulfill the following criteria:

  • Candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least one of the subjects namely, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Forestry or Engineering of a recognised university or equivalent.
  • Candidates appearing at their degree examination (with prescribed subjects) can also compete. If they qualify on the result of the written part of the examination, they will have to submit the proof of passing the required examination along with their detailed application form to be filled in at that stage.

3. Age Limit: The age of a candidate should be minimum 21 years and maximum of 30 years (upper limit relaxation for certain categories).

4. Number of attempts: The Authority has put restrictions on the maximum number of attempts by a candidate which is generally 7 (some categories have relaxations).

3. UPSC Engineering Services Exam 2019

Engineering Services Exam (ESE) is conducted annually for the selection of officers for the engineering services that meet the technical and managerial functions in various fields of Engineering of the Government of India.

ESE is considered as one of the toughest Govt. job exams in India. As data suggests, due to fewer posts with a selection ratio of 0.00275 (based on 2010 statistics) and due to its technical nature.

Job Profile: They work in various fields of Engineering, in various departments of Govt. of India, throughout the country.

Areas of work: The work performed by these bureaucrats largely depends on their engineering branch and the service or cadre they are recruited in.

1. Nationality:

2. Educational Qualification: Candidate applying for UPSC Engineering Services exam is required to fulfill the following criteria:

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.E. / B. Tech) in any branch from a recognized university or equivalent.
  • M.Sc. degree or it’s equivalent with Wireless Communications, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as special subjects also acceptable for certain services/posts only.

3. Age Limit: The age of a candidate should be minimum 21 years and maximum of 30 years (upper limit relaxation for certain categories)

4. Number of attempts: There are no limits on attempts in UPSC ESE. Only age eligibility. So you can give the exam till the age of 30.

4. UPSC Combined Defence Services Exam 2019

The Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination is conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment into the Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy.

Then they are shortlisted for an interview by a Services Selection Board which evaluates a candidate’s suitability for a career in the Indian Armed Forces.

Job Profile: The selected officers join various Indian Defence Forces such as the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy.

Areas of work: They serve the nation by joining various defence forces of the country.

3. Educational Qualification: Candidate applying for UPSC Combined Defence Services exam is required to fulfill the following criteria:

  • Indian Military Academy: Graduate from recognized University
  • Indian Naval Academy: Engineering degree from recognized University
  • Indian Air Force Academy: Engineering degree (Physics & Maths at 10+2) or B.Tech from recognized University
  • Officers’ Training Academy: Graduate from recognized University
  • Officer’s Training Academy – (SSC Women): Graduate from recognized University.

4. Age Limit: The age of a candidate should be minimum 19 years (except in Indian Air Force Academy, where the minimum age is 20 years) and maximum 24 years (upper limit relaxation for certain categories)

5. Number of attempts: There are no limits on attempts in UPSC CDS Exam 2019. Only age eligibility.

5. UPSC CISF AC(Executive) LDCE Exam 2019

The Central Industrial Security Force Assistant Commandant (Executive) Limited Departmental Competitive Exam (CISF AC(EXE) LDCE) is one of the competitive exams conducted by UPSC.

It is conducted for filling the vacancies of Assistant Commandants (Executive) in Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

Job Profile: They serve as officers in several industrial security forces

Areas of work: They ensures the maintenance of the security-related rules and regulation of the industries and maintains the safety protocols

Eligibility Criteria

1. Nationality:

  • Only Indian citizens are eligible.

2. Educational Qualification: Candidate applying for UPSC NDA & NA exam 2019 is required to fulfill the following criteria:

  • The educational qualification for appearing in this competitive examination will be a graduate from a recognized University.
  • Possession of NCC ‘B’ or ‘C’ Certificate will be a desirable qualification. These desirable qualifications will be given consideration at the time of interview/Personality Test only.
  • The candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility conditions for admission to the examination

3. Age Limit: The age of a candidate should have a maximum age of 35 years. Upper age limit relaxation is applicable as per govt. regulations.

4. Number of attempts: The Authority has put restrictions on the maximum number of attempts by a candidate which is generally 3 times (some categories have relaxations).

6. UPSC NDA & NA Exam 2019

The NDA & NA Exam is conducted by UPSC for admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the NDA. This exam is a gateway for candidates looking forward to joining Defence Forces including Army, Navy and Air Force.

National Defence Academy & Naval Academy Examination 2019 will be a two-step process where candidates first need to take the exam and then qualify the SSB interview conducted by the Service Selection Board.

Job Profile: The selected officers join various Defence Wings in the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy

3. Educational Qualification: Candidate applying for UPSC NDA & NA exam 2019 is required to fulfil the following criteria:

  • Army Wing (NDA): The candidates must have the Class 12 pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
  • Air Force & Naval Wing (NDA) and Naval Academy: The candidates must have the Class 12 pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

4. Age Limit: The age of a candidate should be minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years. Upper age limit relaxation is applicable as per govt. regulations.

5. Number of attempts: There are no limits on attempts in UPSC NDA & NA Exam. Only age eligibility.

7. UPSC ISS / IES Exam 2019

Union Public Service Commission conducts the Indian Economic Service (IES) and Indian Statistical Service (ISS) Examination every year.

The Indian Economic Service along with Indian Statistical Service is the administrative inter-ministerial civil service under Group A of the Central Civil Services of the executive branch of the Government of India.

Job Profile: They head the Statistical and Economic advisory boards and councils of several Departments of the Ministry.

Areas of work: Analysing, formulating and implementing economic policies and programmes in India

2. Educational Qualification: Candidate applying for UPSC IES/ISS Exam is required to fulfill the following criteria:

  • Indian Economic Service: The candidates must have obtained a Post Graduate Degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics from a recognized university or a foreign university approved by the Central Government of India from time to time.
  • Indian Statistical Service: The candidates must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics as one of the subject or else the candidates should hold a Master’s degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics from a recognized university or a foreign university approved by the Central Government of India from time to time.

3. Age Limit: The age of a candidate should be minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years. Upper age limit relaxation is applicable as per govt. regulations.

4. Number of attempts: There are no limits on attempts in UPSC IES/ ISS Exam. Only age eligibility.

8. UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Exam 2019

UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Exam is the exam conducted by UPSC for inducting Geologists into various Government departments.

The purpose of UPSC GE or Combined Geo-Scientist & Geologist Examination is to recruit the scientists in Geological Survey of India and Central Ground Water Board.

Job Profile: Their main aims are to plan and conduct the field studies, in which they visit locations to collect samples and conduct surveys

Areas of work: Analyze aerial photographs, detailed records of geologic formations found during drilling, rock samples, and other data sources to locate natural resource deposits and estimate their size

  • Geologists in Geological Survey of India: Master’s degree in Geological Science/ Geology/ Applied Geology/ Geo-Exploration/ Mineral Exploration/ Engineering Geology/ Marine Geology/ Earth Science and Resource Management/ Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies/ Petroleum Geosciences/ Petroleum Exploration/ Geochemistry/ Geological Technology/ Geophysical Technology.
  • Geophysicist in Geological Survey of India: M.Sc. in Physics/ Applied Physics OR M. Sc. (Geophysics) OR Integrated M. Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) OR M. Sc (Applied Geophysics) OR M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics) OR M.Sc. (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics).
  • Chemists in Geological Survey of India: M.Sc. in Chemistry/ Applied Chemistry/ Analytical Chemistry.
  • Hydrogeologists in Central Ground Water Board: Master’s degree in Geology/ Applied Geology/ Marine Geology OR Master’s degree in Hydrogeology from a recognized University.

3. Age Limit: The age of a candidate should be minimum 21 years and maximum 32 years (except for Hydrologist for which the maximum age is 35 years). Upper age limit relaxation is applicable as per govt. regulations

9. UPSC Combined Medical Services Exam 2019

Combined Medical Services (CMS) examination is conducted by UPSC for recruiting medical officers at various Government of India organization.

This is one of the prestigious examinations held in India to recruit doctors across the country for various Government departments.

Job Profile: The medical officer selected through this exam is supposed to do medical duties as performed by any doctor in several government health care departments and hospitals.

Areas of work: The medical officers selected from this exam, make arrangements to distribute work at the time of emergency. The officer manages his staff in normal OPD hours and is allowed to organize laboratory services

  • The Candidates appearing in the final MBBS Exam may also apply, but they must provide the final passing certificate during the verification process.

3. Age Limit: The age of a candidate should be minimum 21 years and maximum 32 years. Upper age limit relaxation is applicable as per govt. regulations

4. Number of attempts: There are no limits on attempts in UPSC CMS Exam 2019. Only age eligibility.

10. UPSC Central Armed Police Forces (ACs) Exam 2019

The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) refers to the uniform nomenclature of seven security forces in India under the authority of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Central Armed Police Forces (ACs) Exam is conducted by UPSC to recruit Assistant Commandants in the above forces.

They are the Assam Rifles (AR), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), National Security Guard (NSG), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)

Job Profile: Assistant Commandant (AC) leads a company of around 150 armed personnel, which is deployed for conducting elections and maintaining normalcy, apart from the original mandates of border guarding and guarding the industrial corridors (CISF).

Areas of work: The Assistant Commandant has to perform functions like planning and conduct of operations, ensuring on the job training to keep the Company in the constant state of operational preparedness for the requirement in any situation.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Nationality:

  • No person who is not a citizen of India shall, except with the consent of the Central Government signified in writing be appointed or employed under these Rules.
  • Provided that nothing contained in these rules shall debar the appointment, enrolment or employment of a subject of Nepal or Bhutan under these Rules.

2. Educational Qualification: Candidate applying for UPSC CAPF AC Exam is required to fulfill the following criteria:

  • As part of UPSC CAPF Eligibility Criteria, candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a government recognized university. The University should be incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India.
  • Other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 are also acceptable.
  • Those candidates, who have appeared in the qualifying examination and have yet not got their results, can also apply for CAPF Exam. But, it must be kept in mind that the admission would be provisional until the candidate produces proof of passing the examination after qualifying the entrance test of CAPF.

3. Age Limit: The age of a candidate should be minimum 20 years and maximum of 25 years. Upper age limit relaxation is applicable as per govt. regulations

4. Number of attempts: There are no limits on attempts in UPSC CAPF AC Exam 2019. Only age eligibility.

11. UPSC S.O./Steno (GD-B/GD-I) LDCE Exam 2019

Union Public Service Commission conducts UPSC SO/Steno Exam for recruitment for Section Officers’ Grade and Stenographers’ Grade I/Grade ‘B’ posts.

UPSC SO/Steno is a Departmental Exam and the applicant must be serving as a Central Government Employee working as Assistant in the Assistant Grade of the Central Secretariat Service, etc.

Candidate applying for UPSC S.O./Steno Exam is required to fulfill the following criteria:

  • For above-stated posts, there is no specific educational qualification is required but appliers may serving Central Government Employees working as Assistant in the Assistant Grade of the Central Secretariat Service etc, are eligible to apply for this exam.
  • Applicant must have attained 40% marks in the valuation of record of Service.
  • Will not be counted for Ranking/Merit, in case, the aspirant has acquired lesser than 40% Marks in the evaluation of the record of Service.
  • There is no prescribed age limit for this exam.
