Indian Bank PO is a national level recruitment exam, conducted by the Indian Bank annually. It is a gateway for recruiting aspirants into the Probationary Officer post offered by the branches of the bank.

Selected candidates must undergo a 1-year PGDBF course at Indian Bank, Manipal School of Banking before they are recruited as Probationary Officers (POs).

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility Criteria – Education Qualification, Age limit and No. of chances for Indian Bank PO 2019 Examinations is mentioned below.

Education Qualification

Qualification (As on the opening date of Online registration) – A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a recognized University (or) any Equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government

Nationality

A candidate applying for recruitment  must be : –

  • A citizen of India, or
  •  A subject of Nepal, or
  • A subject of Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently setting in India, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently setting in India.

Age Limit

Age (As on the opening date of Online registration) minimum 20 years Maximum – 30 years

Relaxation in upper age limit is provided to candidates of different category.

Exam Pattern for Indian Bank PO 2019

The selection process will consist of an online test (Preliminary & Main Examination). Candidates qualifying in the Main Examination will be further shortlisted for Interview before the final selection.

Tier I: Preliminary Examination 

Tier I: Preliminary Examination (Online Objective Test) for 100 marks, would be of one-hour duration and will consist of 3 sections as follows:

The questions in objective tests, except for the test of English Language, will be made available in English & Hindi.

Candidates will have to qualify in each test by securing passing marks to be decided by the Bank adequate number of candidates state-wise and category-wise as decided by the Bank will be shortlisted for the Tier II- Main Examination.

**NOTE: There may be a penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Tests. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score.

Application Procedure

Once the official notification is out, applications for Indian Bank PO will be available online on the official website of Indian Bank.

Candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria can fill up the application form only in the online mode and apply for the exam.

Application Fee

The application fee for SC/ST/PwD is ₹100/-. For candidates belonging to any other category, the application fee is ₹600/-.

Job Prospects for Indian Bank PO

The Job of a PO is of a managerial level after the selection, the candidate is appointed to the post of Assistant Manager.

Their job is to grant the loan, supervise clerk’s job, marketing and accounts. In short, they need to be a multi-tasker.
