job with facebook status

Now-a-days we are more or less associated with the facebook. In fact, it would not be wrong if we say deeply integrated. We share pictures, posts, play games, chats and many more. But what we do most? Update status. Be it serious or silly nothing left us behind to update our status. We keep on counting when we will get the likes and comments.

But have you ever thought of getting job by updating your status? Most of the people won’t believe it, but it happened and there is a fair bit of chance of getting a job with your facebook status too.

srinivasan

This happened with a guy called Sree Sreenivasan(in the picture) an Indian origin living in US. He was appointed as the chief digital officer of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art in the year 2013. He made news as he was first person to be so and brought the museum into the social media age.

Though his performance was praise-worthy, but as a cost-cutting drive the Museum authority thought of leaving him in June, 2016. The situation left Sreenivasan at utter distress. The same day he broke the news of his dismissal on facebook. He shared his gratitude to his bosses and his team. Perhaps most importantly, he said he was open to any and all meetings and asked friends to offer advice about what he should do next. His Facebook status was:

“If you want to invite me to anything, I now have time, including for meaningful cups of coffee and drinks,” he wrote. “I’d also love to go walking with anyone available. I try to walk 5 miles a day, I plan to make it 8-10 miles this summer.”

It drew many likes and hundreds of comments- some are advisory and some are congratulatory. But surprisingly amidst all comments there was an offer for job for him. And within two months of his dismissal from job he got another job organisation named City of New York Government, New York.

Sreeninvasan describes that in a present day scenario Facebook networking may plays a vital role in getting a job. You need to build up the network before you need it. Likes and comments at others pictures, posts, profiles are aids in building the facebook network.

Sreenivasan also says, never be hesitant in sharing your job positions in facebook, though private messages to facebook friends can also be conveyed. But you never know where from you will get the support. There are ample chances of getting jobs through facebook even from completely unknown sources.
