Staff Selection Commission conducts a Limited Departmental Competitive Exam for recruitment to vacancies in Lower Division Grade reserved for regularly appointed Group ‘C’ Staff in (i) Central Secretariat Clerical Service, (ii) Armed Forces Headquarters Clerical Service, (iii) Indian Foreign Service (IFS) (B), (iv) Central Passport Organization under Ministry of External Affairs (v) Ministry of Railways (Railway Board), (vi) Department of Legal Affairs (DoLA) and (vi) O/o Registrar General of India under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Only eligible employees for each of the above cadres will be considered for appointment in respective vacancies in the cadres.

SSC LDCE Exam Eligibity Criteria 2021

  1. Nationality
  2. A candidate must be either:
    (a) a citizen of India, or
    (b) a subject of Nepal, or
    (c) a subject of Bhutan, or
    (d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
    (e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania(Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

    Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d), and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

  3. Educational Qualification
  4. The candidate must have passed the 12th Standard examination from a recognized Board or equivalent.

  5. Age Limit
  6. The upper age limit to appear in the SSC LDCE examination is 45 years.
    However, there are age relaxations for candidates belonging to the reserved categories. They are given below in the table:

  7. Restrictions on Attempts
  8. No well-defined number of attempts has been stated by the recruiting body. The candidate may appear as long as she/he fits into the age criteria stated by the recruiting body.

SSC LDCE Exam Pattern 2021

The Examination comprises two selection stages- Paper-I and Paper-II. Paper-I is the first stage of the selection process and consists of a descriptive type test and is qualifying in nature. While Paper-II is the final stage of selection consists of two papers and is merit ranking in nature.

Pattern for Paper-I

Paper-I is the first stage of the exam, Candidates are required to write a short essay in Hindi or English Language.

Pattern for Paper-II

SSC LDCE Exam Syllabus 2021

Syllabus for Paper-I

1 Short Essay (Hindi or English)

One Essay of 400-500 words to be written on any of the several specified subjects.

Syllabus for Paper-II

1 Language (General English or Samanya Hindi)

The candidate will be tested in simple composition and Applied Grammar

2 General Knowledge

Knowledge of current events, matters of every day observation, experience and general information about India.
