SSC Hindi Translator Exam 2021

The Staff Selection Commission will hold an open competitive examination for recruitment of Group “B” Non-Gazetted posts of Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translator and Senior Hindi Translator for various Ministries/ Departments/ Organizations in the Government of India. Staff Selection Commission or SSC conducts the SSC Junior Hindi Translator Exam each year.

SSC Junior Hindi Translator (JHT) Exam is conducted in both Hindi & English since checking the command of the candidate over their English and the Hindi language is the main criteria for this exam. The questions will be designed to test the candidates’ understanding of the languages and literature, correct use of words, phrases and idioms and ability to write the languages correctly, precisely and effectively.

SSC Hindi Translator Exam Eligibity Criteria 2021

  1. Nationality
  2. A candidate must be either:

    1.  A citizen of India, or
    2. A subject of Nepal, or
    3. A subject of Bhutan, or
    4. A Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
    5. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
    6. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories 2 to 5 above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
    7. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the Examination but the offer of appointment will be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.

  3. Educational Qualification
    • Master‟s degree of a recognized University in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level; and
    • Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa or two years‟ experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central or State Government Office, including Government of India Undertaking.

  4. Age Limit
  5. The age of the candidate to appear in the SSC Hindi Translator Exam should be minimum of 18 years and maximum of 30 years.
    However, there are age relaxations for candidates belonging to the reserved categories. They are given below in the table:

  6. Restrictions on Attempts
  7. There is no restriction on the number of attempts for the examination; the candidate must fulfil the eligibility criteria.

SSC Hindi Translator Exam Pattern 2021

Important points regarding the pattern of the exam:

  • The SSC Junior Hindi Translator examination is conducted in two phases – Paper-I and Paper-II.
  • Paper-I is a computer-based examination consisting of objective multiple-type questions.
  • Paper II is conducted offline and is a conventional type of paper.
  • Candidates appearing for the exam are shortlisted based on their performance in Paper I and Paper-II.
  • Candidates should prepare for the SSC HT exam as per the syllabus prescribed by the conducting board.
  • Allocation of candidates is done based on User Departments depending upon their merit position and their option.

Pattern for Paper- I

The paper is divided into two sections and a composite time of 120 minutes is given for the exam.

Pattern for Paper- II

The paper has only one section. The paper is a conventional type of paper. It is descriptive in nature and is conducted in offline mode. A composite time of 2 hours is given for this exam.
