State Bank of India (SBI) every year conducts SBI PO exam to select eligible candidates for the post of Probationary Officer. A large number of candidates apply for the exam, out of which only a few are selected depending on the number of vacancies. SBI PO is considered the most sought after banking exams in the country. Successful candidates are posted as Probationary Officers in the various branches of the bank. The exam was conducted across various cities in two shifts for candidates who have qualified the prelims exam.

SBI PO Exam Eligibity Criteria 2021

  1. Nationality
  2. The candidate must be a citizen of India.

  3. Educational Qualification
  4. Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University or any equivalent qualification recognised as such by the Central Government.

  5. Age Limit
  6. The age of the candidate to appear in the SBI PO examination should be minimum of 21 years and maximum of 30 years.
    However, there are age relaxations for candidates belonging to the reserved categories. They are given below in the table:

SBI PO Exam Pattern 2021

Important points regarding the pattern of the examination:

  • The Phase-I Prelims exam will be an objective type paper consisting of 100 questions in total and each question carrying 1 mark.
  • Merit list will be released category wise on the basis of the aggregate marks scored in the Preliminary Exam.
  • The candidates will be selected in the ratio of 1:10 for the Main examination, i.e, 10 times the number of vacancies available.
  • The descriptive test will be for 30 minutes consisting of 2 questions and 50 marks in total. This will be an English language test basically Essay and Letter.
  • Candidates counting up to 3 times (approx.) of the category wise vacancies will be shortlisted for the Group Exercise & Interview from the top of the category wise merit list subject to a candidate scoring the minimum aggregate qualifying score.
  • The marks obtained in the Phase-I Preliminary examination will not be added for the final merit list for selection.
  • The marks obtained in the Main examination both in objective and descriptive test and the marks obtained in GE and Interview will be considered for Final merit list.
  • Marks obtained by the candidates in the Main Examination (out of 250 marks) will be converted to out of 75 marks and Group Exercises & Interview scores of candidates (out of 50 marks) will be converted to out of 25 marks.

Pattern for Interview (Or Interview & Group Exercises)

Total marks allotted: 50

The candidates who have qualified in the mains exam are called for a face-to-face interview. In this stage, there will be an Interview only (50 marks) OR Interview (30 marks) & Group Exercises (20 marks).

Syllabus for Interview (Or Interview & Group Exercises)

There is no specific syllabus for interview. In broad terms, this is really an assessment of not only a candidate’s intellectual qualities but also social traits and interest in current affairs. Some of the qualities to be judged are mental alertness, critical powers of assimilation, clear and logical exposition, the balance of judgment, variety, and depth of interest, the ability for social cohesion, leadership, and intellectual and moral integrity.
