The Junior Translator/Hindi Recruitment is done under the RRB Ministerial & Isolated Categories. This recruitment process is conducted under the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB). This post is vacant for all categories across various cities of India like Chennai, Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Allahabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Bilaspur, Chandigarh, Gorakhpur, Guwahati, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna and Secunderabad. 

The first stage of this RRB Junior Translator recruitment process will begin with a Computer Based Test (CBT) and the CBT is followed by the second phase of the Translation Test and the third and the last stage will be the Document Verification and Medical Examination.

RRB JTE Exam Eligibity Criteria 2021

  1. Nationality
  2. A candidate must be either:
    (a) a citizen of India, or
    (b) a subject of Nepal, or
    (c) a subject of Bhutan, or
    (d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
    (e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
    (f) Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

  3. Educational Qualification
  4. Master’s degree of a recognized University or equivalent in Hindi or English with English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as a medium of examination at degree level;
    OR
    Master’s degree of a recognized University or equivalent in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi or English medium and English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as a medium of examination at degree level;
    OR
    Master’s degree of a recognized University or equivalent in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects of either of the two as a medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level.
    AND
    Recognized Diploma or Certificate Course in translation from Hindi to English and vice-versa or two years experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice-versa in Central or State Government offices, including Government of India Undertaking.

  5. Age Limit
  6. The age of the candidate to appear in the RRB JTE examination should be minimum of 18 years and maximum of 33 years.
    However, there are age relaxations for candidates belonging to the reserved categories. They are given below in the table:

    Candidates have ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989 (SC/ST) 43 years
    Candidates functional in Group ‘C’ and erstwhile Group ‘D’ Railway Staff, Casual Labour and Substitutes and put in a minimum of 3 years service (UR) 43 years

  7. Restrictions on Attempts
  8. In the Junior Translator/Hindi under the RRB Ministerial and Isolated Recruitment Test, there is no fixed number of attempts for which an applicant will appear. The candidate may appear for the examination as long as you meet the eligibility requirements.

RRB JTE Exam Pattern 2021

The RRB Junior Translator exam consists of a single-stage Computer Based Test that will be conducted followed by a qualifying translation test. The Computer Based Test has four subjects namely Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and General Science. After qualifying the CBT candidates to have to appear for the Translation Test which includes a total number of two subjects namely Hindi and English. The Translation Test is a qualifying test.

Pattern for Computer Based Test

A single stage Computer Based Test will be conducted followed by a qualifying translation test. The Question Paper shall be designed to test equally both the knowledge of English language as well as knowledge of Hindi language. Atleast 50% of the questions will be designed to test language proficiency – 20% for English and 30% for Hindi. The remaining questions will be designed to test General Knowledge, General Intelligence, Simple Arithmetic and basics of computer.

Pattern for Translation Test

Translation Test shall not be a part of the main examination. Candidates 10 times the number of vacancies shall be called for the translation test, based on the merit of the objective type CBT, duly taking into account reservation requirements. The Translation Test shall be only a qualifying test and the qualifying pass marks shall be 60%.
