The Junior Stenographer Recruitment is conducted under the RRB Ministerial & Isolated Categories. The recruitment process is administered under the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB). The recruitment is for all categories across various cities of India like Chennai, Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Allahabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Bilaspur, Chandigarh, Gorakhpur, Guwahati, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna, and Secunderabad. 

A stenographer is a professional who has the ability to translate a language into a coded form which is popularly known as Shorthand. Stenographers use shorthand and a steno machine to transcribe information.

RRB JS Exam Exam Eligibity Criteria 2021

  1. Nationality
  2. A candidate must be either:
    (a) a citizen of India, or
    (b) a subject of Nepal, or
    (c) a subject of Bhutan, or
    (d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
    (e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
    (f) Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

  3. Educational Qualification
  4. 10+2 or its equivalent examination from a recognized Board/University. The shorthand speed of 80 words per minute for a duration of 10 minutes with a transcription time of 65 minutes.

  5. Age Limit
  6. The age of the candidate to appear in the RRB JS Exam examination should be minimum of 18 years and maximum of 30 years.
    However, there are age relaxations for candidates belonging to the reserved categories. They are given below in the table:

    Candidates have ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989 (UR) 38 years
    Candidates have ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989 (OBC) 41 years
    Candidates have ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989 (SC/ST) 43 years
    Candidates functional in Group ‘C’ and erstwhile Group ‘D’ Railway Staff, Casual Labour and Substitutes and put in a minimum of 3 years service (UR) 43 years

  7. Restrictions on Attempts
  8. In the Junior Stenographer under the RRB Ministerial and Isolated Recruitment Test, there is no fixed number of attempts for which an applicant will appear. The candidate may appear for the examination as long as you meet the eligibility requirements.

RRB JS Exam Exam Pattern 2021

The selection process for the post of Stenographer is divided into two stages. The first stage is an online Computer Based Test for total marks of 100 marks qualifying to the second stage which is a Stenography Test. All the candidates will have to attempt Part I & II (both the subjects) compulsorily. There shall be a single composite paper for both subjects. Candidates will be required to qualify in each of the two subjects separately.

Pattern for Computer Based Test

The question paper for Junior Stenographer (Hindi) & Junior Stenographer (English) will consist of two parts only. The subjects of the paper for CBT, No. of questions, the time allowed, the maximum marks for each subject will be as follows:

Pattern for Stenography Test

The Stenography Skill Test can only be performed on personal computers without tools for editing and spell checking. KrutiDev and Mangal font should be available on Personal Computer for those who appear for Ability Test in Hindi,
