RBI is the central bank of India and it’s a dream job for many banking aspirants. RBI acts as the regulator of all the public and private sector banks of India. RBI Assistant exam is conducted by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to select eligible candidates for the post of Assistant in various branches and sub-offices of RBI. This exam provides the candidates with a gateway to joining one of the most coveted government organisations in India. 

The selection for the post will be through a country-wide competitive examination in two phases i.e. Preliminary and Main examination followed by a Language Proficiency Test (LPT). The candidates selected as the RBI Assistant are posted in its regional and head offices.

RBI Assistant Exam Eligibity Criteria 2021

  1. Nationality
  2. The candidates must be a citizen of India.

  3. Educational Qualification
    • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks (pass class for SC/ST/PWD candidates) in the aggregate and the knowledge of word processing on PC.
    • A candidate belonging to the Ex-servicemen category (except dependents of ex-servicemen) should either be a graduate from a recognized University or should have passed the matriculation or its equivalent examination of the Armed Forces and rendered at least 15 years of defence service.
    • Candidates applying for a post in a particular recruiting office should be proficient in the language (i.e. know to read, write, speak and understand the language) of the state/ any of the states falling under the recruiting office.

  4. Age Limit
  5. The age of the candidate to appear in the RBI Assistant Exam should be minimum of 20 years and maximum of 28 years.
    However, there are age relaxations for candidates belonging to the reserved categories. They are given below in the table:

    Candidates domiciled in the state of Jammu and Kashmir during the period from 1st January, 1980 to 31st December, 1989 33 years
    Candidates having work experience in Reserve Bank of India 31 years

RBI Assistant Exam Pattern 2021

There are some important points regarding the exam:

  • The online test/s except for the Test of English Language will be available bilingually, i.e. English and Hindi.
  • Candidates will have to pass in each of the objective tests of the online examinations.
  • A candidate has to qualify in Preliminary Examination for appearing in Main Examination.
  • There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the Objective tests (Preliminary and Main examination). 1/4th marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Only such number of candidates will be called for the Language Proficiency Test who stand sufficiently high in merit based on the aggregate marks of the main on-line examination,

Pattern for Language Proficiency Test (LPT)

The final stage of the recruitment will be the Language Proficiency Test (LPT). The candidates who clear the mains exam will then have to appear for the LPT.
