The RRB Group D exam is conducted by the RRB or Railway Recruitment Board on behalf of the Railway Recruitment Cell. The exam is conducted at the National Level for various different posts like Helper, assistant, track maintainer grade IV, Pointsman, and various other posts in different departments of Railway.

The entire exam comprises of two tests, i.e., a computer-based test and a physical efficiency test. The Computer-based test is an online test that comprises of 100 questions and carries a total of 100 marks. The candidates who qualify the CBT are called for the Physical Efficiency Test. The marks of the PET are considered for the final selection.

The candidates qualifying both the tests are then called for the third and final round which is the Document Verification round. Candidates finally selected after the three stages are then assigned the preferred job role based on their merit.

RRB Group D Exam Eligibity Criteria 2021

  1. Nationality
  2. a. a citizen of India, or
    b. a subject of Nepal, or
    c. a subject of Bhutan, or
    d. a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
    e. a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
    f. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d), and (e) above shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

  3. Educational Qualification
    • Candidates who had completed Class 10 from Institution recognized by NCVT/SCVT or equivalent or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT were eligible to apply.
    • ITI was made non-mandatory for Group D recruitment.

  4. Age Limit
  5. The age of the candidate to appear in the RRB Group D Exam should be minimum of 18 years and maximum of 33 years.
    However, there are age relaxations for candidates belonging to the reserved categories. They are given below in the table:

    Candidates ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989 38 years
    Candidates who are serving Group ‘C’ and erstwhile Group ‘D’ Railway Staff, Casual Labour and Substitutes and put in minimum 3 years of service (continuous or in broken spells) 40 years
    Women candidates, who are widowed, divorced or judicially separated from husband but not remarried 35 years
    Candidates who are working in Quasi-Administrative offices of the Railway organization such as Railway Canteens, Cooperative Societies and Institutes 33 years
    Course Completed Act Apprentices applying for the posts for which minimum qualification is ITI/Course Completed Act Apprenticeship 33 years

  6. Restrictions on Attempts
  7. There is no restriction in the number of attempts as per the official notification.

RRB Group D Exam Pattern 2021

Important points regarding the pattern of the examination:

  • The RRB Group D Exam is conducted in two stages.
  • The tow stages of the exam include RRB Group D CBT or Computer Based Test, RRB Group D PET or Physical Efficiency Test.
  • The RRB Group D CBT Exam is an online exam that is conducted to gauge a candidate’s command on various subjects.
  • The level of the questions asked is similar to the level of questions asked in class 10th.
  • The marks of the PET exam are considered for final selection.

Pattern for RRB Group D Exam

CBT i.e. Computer Based Test consists of four sections. A composite time of 90 minutes is given for the exam.
