Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test is conducted by the Punjab School Education Board to recruit qualified candidates for the posts of teacher in primary and upper primary schools within the state of Punjab.
The Teacher Eligibility Test, known as TET, is the minimum qualification required in India for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher for Classes I to VIII. The test is mandatory for teaching jobs in Indian government schools. With the introduction of TET, the Government of Punjab conducts the exam to appoint teachers in government and provincialised schools within the state.

Punjab State TET Exam Eligibity Criteria 2021
- Nationality
- Educational Qualification
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education OR
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) OR
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education.
- B.A./B.Sc and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. OR
- B.A./B.Sc with at least 50% marks and 1 year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) OR
- B.A./B.Sc with at least 45% marks and 1 year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) in accordance with the NCTE OR
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 years Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) OR
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year BA/B.Sc. Ed or B.A. Ed/B.Sc. Ed.
- Age Limit The minimum age to appear in the Punjab State TET examination is 21 years.
- Restrictions on Attempts
The candidate must be a citizen of India.

There is no restriction on the number of attempts.

Punjab State TET Exam Pattern 2021
There will be two papers:
- Paper- I will be for persons who intend to be a teacher for classes I-V.
- Paper-II will be for persons who intend to be a teacher for classes VI-VIII.
- Out of two language papers one is compulsory and the other has to be selected by the candidates themselves.

- Child Development and Pedagogy: Child development concept, Learning and pedagogy, Teaching and learning disciplines
- Language I: Comprehension, Language skills, Pedagogy of language development, Parts of speech, Active and passive voice, Singular plural, Knowledge of the famous poetry of famous poets, Tenses.
- Language II: Language comprehension, Works of poets and writers, Sentence formation, Spotting error/sentence correction, Idioms and phrases, Difference between all the sounds, varnas, anusvars, resonant and lunar points, Usage of punctuations, Noun, Pronoun, verb, Phrase, gender and time, Pedagogy of Language Development.
- Mathematics: Number system, Shapes and geometry, Data handling, Measurements and units, Unitary rule, Percentage, Profit & Loss, Simple & compound interest, Measurement, Area & volume.
- Environmental Science: Family and friends, Food and nutrition, Shelters, Water, Things we make and do, Plants and animals, Traffic and communication, Sports and sportsmanship, Constitution, Administration.

- Language II: Unseen passage, Grammar, Language pedagogy, Idioms and proverbs, Negative and interrogative sentences, Word Combinations.
- Mathematics (Optional): Number system & simplification, Percentage and ratio, Time, Speed and distance, Algebra and mensuration, Geometry, Average, Profit & loss, Pedagogy of Mathematics and Banking.
- Science (Optional): Food & material, Classification of plants and animals, The structure and function of animals, From cell to organ, Natural phenomenon and resources, The world of the living, Pedagogy of Science, Sound, Magnetism, Animal nutrition, Carbon and its compounds, Mine and metal.
Social Studies (Optional)

Points Related to the Upper Primary Teacher (Classes VI-VIII)
In paper II, the candidate has to select any of the subjects between Mathematics/Science and Social Studies. Other subjects are compulsory for all.
