J&K Bank functions as a universal bank in the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh and as a specialised bank in the rest of the country. It is also designated as RBI’s agent for banking business, and carries out the banking business of the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, besides collecting central taxes for CBDT.

J&K Bank follows a two-legged business model whereby it seeks to increase lending in its home territory which results in higher margins despite modest volumes, and at the same time, seeks to capture niche lending opportunities on a pan-India basis to build volumes and improve margins.

A Bank Probationary Officer would be expected to perform all sorts of banking duties until the end of the probationary period, like accounting, finance, marketing, billing as well as investment-related work. He or she has to handle the daily customer transactions like cheque passing, cash management, draft issuance etc.

J&K Bank P. O. Exam Eligibity Criteria 2021

  1. Nationality
    • Candidates at the time of filling on-line application, will submit selfdeclaration of being domicile in terms of the Jammu and Kashmir Grant of Domicile Certificate (Procedure) Rules, 2020.
    • Selected candidates will have to submit the J&K-UT domicile certificate issued by competent authority, at the time of joining.

  2. Educational Qualification
    • A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognised by the Govt. of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.
    • The candidate must possess valid Mark-sheet / Degree Certificate that he/ she is a graduate on the day he / she registers online and indicate the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation while registering online.

  3. Age Limit
  4. The minimum age to appear in the J&K Bank P. O. examination is 20 years.
    However, there are age relaxations for candidates belonging to the reserved categories. They are given below in the table:

  6. There is no limit on the number of attempt as long as the candidate fulfil all the required eligibility criteria’s.

Pattern for Preliminary Exam

The board conducts the Preliminary written exam in which broadly 3 subjects are asked that are English, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability.

Pattern for Mains Exam

Candidates who will qualify for the Prelims will be eligible for the Mains Written Exam. In the mains exam, a total of 4 subjects are asked that are General Awareness, General English, Reasoning Ability, and Quantitative Aptitude. There will also be an English Language (Letter Writing & Essay) test.

Pattern for Interview

Total marks allotted: 100

Those candidates who qualify for the J&K PO Mains exam, are called for a Personal Interview. Personal Interview comprises a good value for the final selection of J&K PO. The minimum qualifying marks in the interview will not be less than 40% (35% for SC/ST/Socially and educationally backward classes/PCP candidates). The weightage (ratio) of Online Mains Exam and interview will be 80:20 respectively.

Syllabus for Interview

There is no specific syllabus for interview. In broad terms, this is really an assessment of not only a candidate’s intellectual qualities but also social traits and interest in current affairs.
