The Naval Force of India is one of the most esteemed and prestigious naval forces in the world. The Indian Navy is responsible for safeguarding the country from above and below the surface of the ocean. INET is conducted for aspiring male and female candidates for various branches of the Indian Navy.

The Indian Navy Entrance Test is a National Level exam conducted twice a year, offering youngsters the post of Officers in Sub Lieutenant. The selected candidate is offered Permanent Commission (PC) and Short Service Commission (SSC) and undergo training at the Indian Naval Academy. The selection process has a written exam, the interview round, medical examination, and final selection. The examination is open for unmarried male and female candidates.

INET Exam Eligibity Criteria 2021

  1. Nationality
  2. The candidate must be a citizen of India.

  3. Educational Qualification
  4. Executive Branch –

    • BE/B.Tech degree with a minimum of 60% marks.
    • Candidates must hold a minimum 60% aggregate mark in classes 10 and 12.
    • Candidates should mainly have 60% marks in English in class 10 and 12.

    Technical Branch

    • BE/B.Tech with a minimum of 60% marks.

    Educational Branch

    • First class in M.Sc.
    • For some posts under this branch, BE/B.Tech with minimum 60% is required.

    Candidates must have a minimum of 60% in class 10 and 12 along with in English.

  5. Age Limit
  6. There are various upper age limits for various post:

    • SSC Armament Inspectorate Cadre, NAIC – should be born between 02.01.1996 to 01.07.2001
    • SSC ATC – 02.01.1996 to 01.01. 2000
    • SSC Observer, SSC Pilot (MR), SSC Pilot (other than MR) – 02.01.1997 to 01.01.2002
    • SSC Logistics- 02.01.1996 to 01.07.2001
    • SSC X IT – 02.01.1996 to 01.07.2001
    • SSC General Service Hydro Cadre – 02.01.1996 to 01.07.2001
    • SSC Engineering branch General Service – 02.01.1996 to 01.07.2001
    • SSC Electrical Branch General Service – 02.01.1996 to 01.07.2001
    • SSC Educations – 02.01.1996 to 01.01.2000

INET Exam Pattern 2021

There are some important points regarding the Entrance Test:

  • INET Written Exam- the conducted body will conduct a written exam for the selection of candidates. The paper is divided into four sections and each section has 100 marks. The total time for the exam is 2 hours.
  • Candidates are shortlisted for the Interview round/Personality test on the basis of their performance in the written exam.
  • Medical test- Qualifying the medical test is mandatory for all candidates.
  • Final selection – The board will be finally select eligible candidates on the basis of the performance of the candidate in the written exam and the interview round. Candidates are provided appointment letters on selection.

Pattern for MCQ Test

INET exam comprises 100 multiple-choice objective type questions from English, Reasoning & Numerical Ability, General Science, Mathematical Aptitude & General Knowledge. Each section will be 100 marks. The structure of INET exam pattern is given below:

Points Related to the MCQ Test

Marking Scheme

  • Each section will have 20 questions.
  • For the correct answer, four marks will be given.
  • For the incorrect answers, one mark will be deducted.
  • Total marks will be calculated based on the number of correct and incorrect answers.
  • The duration of the test is 2 hours (120 minutes).

Syllabus for Interview

There is no specific syllabus for interview. In broad terms, this is really an assessment of not only a candidate’s intellectual qualities but also social traits and interest in current affairs. Some of the qualities to be judged are mental alertness, critical powers of assimilation, clear and logical exposition, the balance of judgement, variety and depth of interest, the ability for social cohesion, LEADERSHIP, and intellectual and moral integrity.
