The IBPS RRB Office Assistant (Multipurpose) exam is conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection every year. The examination is a national-level exam for aspiring male and female candidates offering them the post of clerk or office assistant in Regional Rural Banks (RRBs).
The examination conducted in two rounds – the Preliminary examination and the Main examination. Selected candidates are shortlisted for provisional allotment. The examination is conducted in online mode in both English and Hindi; however, from this year onwards the examination is also going to be conducted in regional languages.
IBPS RRB office assistant is the beginning post offered to candidates in the banking sector. Candidates selected as office assistants in various RRBs have the job role of receiving and acknowledging cash, handling receipts, drafts, pay orders, cheques and other instructions.

IBPS RRB Exam Eligibity Criteria 2022
- Nationality
- Educational Qualification
- Age Limit The age of the candidate to appear in the IBPS RRB examination should be minimum of 18 years and maximum of 28 years.
A candidate must be either –
(i) a Citizen of India or
(ii) a subject of Nepal or
(iii) a subject of Bhutan or
(iv) a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling
in India or
(v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of
Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire,
Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided that a candidate belonging to
categories (ii), (iii), (iv) & (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by
the Government of India.
Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent.

(b) Desirable: Working knowledge of Computer
However, there are age relaxations for candidates belonging to the reserved categories. They are given below in the table:

There is no minimum or maximum limit on number of attempts. Candidates just need to meet the upper and lower age limit.

IBPS RRB Exam Pattern 2022
IBPS selection process for the RRB 2019 exam will consist of 2 stages, which are:
- Prelims Exam
- Mains Exam (Objective)
- There is one-fourth negative marking in both Prelims & Mains both for each question answered wrongly!
- Once you clear the first stage of the IBPS RRB Exam, you will have to appear for the Mains Exam.
- Your final selection will be based on the score of the Mains Exam.
- You will be selected as an IBPS RRB Office Assistant, once you clear all these 2 stages.
Pattern for Preliminary examination
A composite time of 45 minutes is given for the Preliminary examination.
