IBPS Clerk Exam is conducted annually by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). It is a Common Recruitment Process (CRP) that is conducted to select suitable candidates for the clerical cadre posts. The candidates who are finally selected are posted in the public sector banks of the country. Any candidate who aspires to join any of the participating organization is required to register for the Common Recruitment Process conducted by IBPS.
The candidates who are selected for the clerical cadre are required to serve probation for six months. After the probation period is completed, the candidates are required to appear for a performance test or an assessment test to confirm themselves as permanent employees.
A clerical cadre is an entry-level post for any candidate willing to become a banker. A clerk is required to look after the daily activities of the bank and at the same time, is responsible for addressing the queries brought in by the customers

IBPS Clerk Exam Eligibity Criteria 2022
- Nationality
- Educational Qualification
- A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognised by the Govt. Of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.
- The candidate must possess a valid Mark-sheet / Degree Certificate that he/ she is a graduate on the day he/she registers and indicate the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation while registering online.
- Computer Literacy: Operating and working knowledge in computer systems is mandatory i.e. candidates should have Certificate/Diploma/Degree in computer operations/Language/ should have studied Computer / Information
- Technology as one of the subjects in the High School/College/Institute
- Age Limit The age of the candidate to appear in the IBPS Clerk Exam should be minimum of 20 years and maximum of 28 years.
A candidate must be either –
(i) a Citizen of India or
(ii) a subject of Nepal or
(iii) a subject of Bhutan or
(iv) a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or
(v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) &
(v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
However, there are age relaxations for candidates belonging to the reserved categories. They are given below in the table:

There is no restriction on the number of attempts provided the upper age limit does not exceed.

IBPS Clerk Exam Pattern 2022
There are two levels of examinations: Preliminary exam and Mains exam. The IBPS Clerk Exam is conducted online as it is a computer-based exam and comprises of multiple-choice questions. All the questions are in both Hindi and English Language except for the English test. Each section in the question paper has a specific timing. The candidate is required to complete a particular section in the specified duration. Each of the candidates appearing for the exam is required to clear the sectional cut-off and the overall cut-off for both the preliminary and the mains examination.
