The exam IB Assistant Central Intelligence Officer Grade-II/Executive Exam is conducted every year by the Ministry of Home Affairs to select candidates for the post of Assistant Central Intelligence Officer (Grade-II/Executive). The position offered to the candidates is a General Central Service, Group C – Non-Gazetted, Non – Ministerial post.

The exam is conducted in three stages Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III. Tier-I is an online computer-based paper, whereas Tier-II is offline Descriptive Teat. Based on the combined performance of the candidate in both Tier -I and II candidates are shortlisted for the Tier-III, the interview round. The final selection is made on the basis of the three tiers.

At a national level, the role is to carry out a bulk of intelligence collection is carried out by ‘Grade II’ employees of the IB and the ‘class I’ officers mostly carry out coordination and higher-level management of the IB. On a state level, candidates will be a part of the State Special Bureau and will be reporting to the Central Intelligence Officer.

IB ACIO Exam Eligibity Criteria 2021

  1. Nationality
  2. Candidates must be a citizen of India.

  3. Educational Qualification
    • Essential Qualification: Graduation or equivalent from a recognized university.
    • Desirable Qualification: Knowledge of computers.

  4. Age Limit
  5. The age of the candidate to appear in the IB ACIO examination should be minimum of 18 years and maximum of 27 years.
    However, there are age relaxations for candidates belonging to the reserved categories. They are given below in the table:

  6. Restrictions on Attempts
  7. There is no such restriction on the number of attempts as long as the age criteria is being fulfilled.

IB ACIO Exam Pattern 2021

Important points regarding the examination:

  • The exam is conducted in three stages, Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III. Tier 1 is shown in the online mode, and the questions are objective type.
  • All candidates who register for the exam should appear for the Tier-I of the examination.
  • Candidates that clear the first stage are eligible for Tier-II. Tier-II is conducted in offline mode, and the paper is a descriptive type.
  • Based on the combined performance of the candidate in Tier-I and II, candidates are shortlisted for the interview round or Tier-III.
  • Finally, based on the performance of the candidate in Tier I, II and the interview round, candidates are shortlisted for the final selection subject to document verification followed by a medical test.
