The Teacher Eligibility Test, known as TET, is the minimum qualification required in India for a person to be eligible for an appointment as a teacher. The test is mandatory for teaching jobs in Indian government schools.

With the introduction of TET, Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test is conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Haryana to recruit qualified candidates for the posts of Primary Teacher (PRT), Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT), and Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) in schools run by the Haryana State Government.

Haryana TET Exam Eligibity Criteria 2021

  1. Nationality
  2. The candidate must be a citizen of India.

  3. Educational Qualification
  4. Primary Teacher (Classes I-V)

    • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR
    • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education OR
    • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) OR
    • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education.

    Trained Graduate Teacher (Classes VI-VIII)

    • B.A./B.Sc and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. OR
    • B.A./B.Sc with at least 50% marks and 1 year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) OR
    • B.A./B.Sc with at least 45% marks and 1 year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) in accordance with the NCTE OR
    • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 years Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) OR
    • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year BA/B.Sc. Ed or B.A. Ed/B.Sc. Ed.

    Post Graduate Teacher

    • Post Graduate Degree with at least 50% marks and B.Ed from a recognized university.
    • Matric with Hindi/Sanskrit or Senior Secondary/Graduation/Post Graduation with Hindi as one of the subjects.
    • Consistent good academic record.

  5. Age Limit
  6. The age of the candidate to appear in the Haryana TET examination should be minimum of 18 years and maximum of 38 years.

  7. Restrictions on Attempts
  8. There is no restriction on the number of attempts.

Syllabus for Primary Teacher (Classes I-V)

1 Paper I

  • Child Development and Pedagogy: Child Development and Pedagogy will focus on the educational psychology of teaching and learning relevant to the age group of 6-11 years. They will focus on understanding the characteristics and needs of diverse learners, interaction with learners and the attributes and qualities of a good facilitator of learning.
  • Languages (Hindi and English): The test items for Languages (Hindi and English) will focus on the proficiencies related to the medium of instruction.
  • General Studies: The test items for Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability and Haryana G.K. and Awareness Language will focus on the elements of Mental and Reasoning Ability and General Knowledge regarding Haryana State.
  • Mathematics and Environmental Studies: The test items in Mathematics and Environmental Studies will focus on the concepts, problem-solving abilities and pedagogical understanding of the subjects. In all these subject areas, the test items shall be evenly distributed over different divisions of the syllabus of that subject prescribed for classes I-V.

Syllabus for Trained Graduate Teacher (VI-VIII)

1 Paper I

  • Child Development and Pedagogy:  Child Development and Pedagogy will focus on the educational psychology of teaching and learning, relevant to the age group of 11-16 years. They will focus on understanding the characteristics, needs and psychology of diverse learners, interaction with learners and the attributes and qualities of a good facilitator of learning.
  • Languages (Hindi and English): It will focus on the proficiencies related to the medium of instruction relevant to the age group of 11-16 years.
  • General Studies: The test items for Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability and Haryana G.K. and Awareness Language will focus on the elements of Mental and Reasoning ability and General Knowledge regarding Haryana State.
  • Subject Specific as Opted: The test items in subject-specific will focus on the concepts, problem-solving abilities and pedagogical understanding of these subjects.

  • General Studies: The test item for Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability and Haryana G.K. and Awareness Language will focus on the elements of Mental and Reasoning Ability and General Knowledge regarding Haryana State.
  • Subject Specific as Opted: The test item in subject-specific will focus on the concepts, problem-solving abilities and pedagogical understanding of these subjects.
