Haryana Civil Services exam is conducted by the Haryana Public Service Commission to recruit qualified candidates in various administrative posts like HCS (Ex. Br.), DSP, ETO etc.

HCS Exam Eligibity Criteria 2021

  1. Nationality
  2. A candidate must be either:

    • a citizen of India, or
    • a subject of Nepal, or
    • a subject of Bhutan, or
    • a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1 st January,1962with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
    • a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, 9 Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

  3. Educational Qualification
  4. Candidates must possess a Bachelor Degree from a recognized University.

  5. Age Limit
  6. For the post of DSP, a candidate should not be less than 18 years and not more than 27 years of age


    However, there are age relaxations for candidates belonging to the reserved categories. They are given below in the table:

  7. Restrictions on Attempts
  8. There is no attempt restriction for the candidates provided the upper age limit has not been exceeded.

HCS Exam Pattern 2021

This exam consists of three stages:
Stage I: Preliminary exam consists of two papers of objective type carrying 200 for each paper.
Stage II: Main Exam consists of four papers of descriptive type.
Stage III: This stage consists of a Personality Test.

Syllabus for Personality Test

In broad terms, this is really an assessment of not only a candidate’s intellectual qualities but also social traits and interest in current affairs. Some of the qualities to be judged are mental alertness, critical powers of assimilation, clear and logical exposition, the balance of judgement, variety and depth of interest, the ability for social cohesion, LEADERSHIP, and intellectual and moral integrity.
