GATE examination full form is Graduate Aptitude in Technical Examination is an online national level examination conducted by the IIT’S and IIIT’S on a rotational basis on behalf National Coordination Board under the department of higher education Ministry. This examination is suitable for the candidates who want to enrol themselves in the course of Masters in Engineering, Masters in Technology, and for direct PhD admission in the top IITs’s and IIIT, and NIT across the country. In order to be eligible for this examination, one needs to complete their graduation degree in B.Tech, B.Engg etc.

This examination seems to test a comprehensive understanding of the candidates about their graduation subjects and concepts. The master’s degree in the technical and engineering field will help the candidates to become eligible for the tops jobs in the country and across the world. Along with this, they will also seem to enhance the understanding of the concepts and subjects they have learned graduation and gain deeper knowledge in those concepts.

GATE Exam Eligibity Criteria 2021

  1. Nationality
  2. Candidates appearing for the examination must be a citizen of India.

  3. Educational Qualification
  4. Candidates appearing for the examination must have a Bachelors degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture, OR can be a final year student from Engineering/ Technical Field.

  5. Age Limit
  6. There is no upper or lower age limit for appearing in the exam. If the candidate fulfils the educational requirements they may appear for the examination.

  7. Restrictions on Attempts
  8. There is no minimum or maximum limit on number of attempts for the appearing candidates. They just need to meet educational requirement.

GATE Exam Pattern 2021

Important points regarding the pattern of the exam:

  • There are total sections in this examination one is the general aptitude and another is engineering and mathematics.
  • From the engineering and mathematics one has the option to choose from 27 subjects discussed in syllabus.
  • The type of questions one can get in this examination is MCQ, MSQ( Multiple Select Questions) AND NAT (Numerical Answer type).
  • There is no negative marking in MSQ.
