ESIC

Employees’ State Insurance Corporation in short ESIC conducts the Exam to select eligible candidates for the post of Upper Division Clerk and Stenographer. The job profile of the Upper Division Clerk includes various clerical jobs like Drafting Letters Maintaining Registers Preparing Monthly, Quarterly and Yearly reports Preparing Online Payment Dockets Uploading of Various Certificates.

The exam is conducted in three stages including Prelims Exam, Mains Exam and a Computer Skills Test. The first exam i.e., the Prelims exam is qualifying in nature whereas the marks obtained in the mains exam are added to the final cut-off marks obtained by a candidate. The Prelims and Mains exam is an objective exam, while the Computer Skill Test is descriptive in nature.

ESIC UDC Exam Eligibity Criteria 2021

  1. Nationality
  2. A candidate for appointment must be:
    (a) a Citizen of India; or
    (b) he/she must belong to such categories of persons as may from time to time, be notified on this behalf by the
    Central Government in the Department of Personnel and Training in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.

  3. Educational Qualification
    1. Degree of a recognised University or equivalent.
    2. Working knowledge of computers including use of Office suites and databases.

  4. Age Limit
  5. The age of the candidate to appear in the ESIC UDC Exam should be minimum of 18 years and maximum of 27 years.
    However, there are age relaxations for candidates belonging to the reserved categories. They are given below in the table:

  6. Restrictions on Attempts
  7. There is no such restriction on the number of attempts as long as the age criteria is being fulfilled.

ESIC UDC Exam Pattern 2021

Important points regarding the pattern of the exam: 

  • The ESIC UDC Exam is conducted in three stages including the Prelims Exam, the Mains Exam, and the Computer Skills Test.
  • The Prelims and the Mains Exam are objective in nature while the Computer Skill Test is descriptive in nature.
  • The Prelims exam is qualifying in nature, while the marks obtained in the Mains exam are considered for final selection.
  • The candidates are required to score the minimum cut-off marks in order to be recruited as an Upper Division Clerk (UDC) in the ESIC.

Pattern for Preliminary Exam

The Preliminary exam of UDC is objective in nature. The exam has four sections with a total mark of 200. There are 100 questions and every question weighs 2 marks. 1/4th of the marks will be deducted for every wrong answer. The medium of prelims paper is bilingual. The score obtained in prelims will not be considered for final merit.

The mains exam for Upper Division Clerk also has 4 sections. There are 200 questions and each question weighs one mark.
