The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is a central government organization, and it conducts this Social Security Assistant (SSA) exam once a year to recruit eligible candidates for the post of Social security officer. This post is a dream post for numerous aspirants, and it provides them with an excellent opportunity to work in government institutes.
The candidates will undergo 3 phases in the selection process that is, Preliminary Examination, Mains Examination, and Computer Skill Test. The Preliminary Examination is conducted for 100 marks and the Mains Examination is conducted for 153 marks.

EPFO Social Security Assistant Exam Eligibity Criteria 2021
- Nationality
- Educational Qualification
- Degree of a recognized university or equivalent as on the closing date for online registration of application.
- Possessing a speed of at least 5000 key depressions per hour for Data Entry Work.
- Age Limit The age of the candidate to appear in the EPFO Social Security Assistant Exam should be minimum of 18 years and maximum of 27 years.
A candidate must be either:
a. a citizen of India, or
b. a subject of Nepal, or
c. a subject of Bhutan, or
d. a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
e. a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
f. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
However, there are age relaxations for candidates belonging to the reserved categories. They are given below in the table:

There is no such restriction on the number of attempts as long as the age criteria is being fulfilled.

EPFO Social Security Assistant Exam Pattern 2021
Important points regarding the pattern of the exam:
- Phase–I is qualifying in nature and marks will not be reckoned for final merit.
- The candidates will be shortlisted for Phase-II in the ratio of 1:10 i.e. about 10 times the number of vacancies in each category on the basis of their performance in Phase – I.
- The marks obtained in Phase – II will be considered for final selection.
- The descriptive paper will be conducted online immediately after completion of an online objective test of Phase-II Main Examination
- The candidates will be shortlisted for Phase-III in the ratio of 1:5 i.e. about 5 times the number of vacancies in each category on the basis of their performance in Phase – II.
- Computer Skill Test will be qualifying in nature. Marks obtained will not be reckoned for merit ranking
