Canara Bank PO recruitment is conducted to select candidates to the post of Probationary Officers in Junior Grade Scale I after successful completion of the specially designed Post Graduate Diploma in Banking & Finance (PGDBF) course. Canara Bank PGDBF is a one-year training course that candidates can undergo either at Manipal Global Education Services Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru campus, or NITTE Education International Pvt Ltd. Greater Noida campus.
Candidates for admission to the course is selected through the online objective test followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The responsibility of conducting the online test has been given to the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) whereas the other selection processes are conducted by Canara Bank. Besides, Canara Bank also recruits candidates to the post of PO based on IBPS PO exam.

Canara Bank PO Exam Eligibity Criteria 2021
- Nationality
- Educational Qualification
- Age Limit The age of the candidate to appear in the Canara Bank PO Exam should be minimum of 20 years and maximum of 30 years.
A candidate must be either:
i) a citizen of India or
ii) a subject of Nepal or
iii) a subject of Bhutan or
iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 01.01.1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or
v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia & Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) or (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
A Candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the group discussion/Interview conducted by the Bank, but on final selection the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate issued by the Government of India, is produced.
A Degree (Graduation) with a minimum of 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PWBD) or equivalent grade, in any discipline from a University recognised by the Government of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.
However, there are age relaxations for candidates belonging to the reserved categories. They are given below in the table:

There is no limit on the number of attempts until the candidate fulfil all the required eligibility criteria

Canara Bank PO Exam Pattern 2021
The selection shall be by way of Online Objective Test followed by Group Discussion and Interview. Online objective test will be conducted through Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), Mumbai.
Important points regarding the pattern of the examination:
- Canara Bank conducts the PO examination to recruit fresh candidates for the post of probationary officers.
- The examination is conducted in two phases.
- The first phase is an online examination in which the candidates are required to answer certain questions which are objective in nature.
- The candidates securing passing marks in the objective online examination will qualify for the next level that is group discussion and interview.
- Except for the English language, other subjects will be bilingual (Both in English and Hindi).
- The cut-off marks for each subject and the overall cut-off score will be decided by the bank.
- Candidates must clear both the cut-off scores, i.e sectional and overall, in order to appear for the next stage of the selection process.

Pattern for Group Discussion and Interview
The Group Discussion and Interview carries 50 marks each. The qualifying marks for Group Discussion and Personal Interview is not less than 40% for General Category while it is 35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWBD candidates.

Syllabus for Group Discussion and Interview
There is no specific syllabus for interview. In broad terms, this is really an assessment of not only a candidate’s intellectual qualities but also social traits and interest in current affairs. Some of the qualities to be judged are mental alertness, critical powers of assimilation, clear and logical exposition, the balance of judgement, variety and depth of interest, the ability for social cohesion, LEADERSHIP, and intellectual and moral integrity.
