Food Corporation of India (FCI) is the Government of India owned corporation, established in 1965 to implement the National Food Policy of the Government throughout the Country. The National Food Policy includes:
- Effective price support operations for safeguarding the interests of the farmers.
- Distribution of foodgrains throughout the country for the Public Distribution System.
- Maintaining a satisfactory level of operational and buffer stocks of foodgrains to ensure National Food Security
It is one of the largest Corporations in India and probably the largest supply chain management in Asia. It operates through 05 Zonal offices and 24 Regional offices across India.
